Information for Prospective Members

There are three types of members that can be initiated into OΔK:

Honoris causa and Alumni Members: Honoris causa members need not have had any prior affiliation with Truman State University. Persons selected honoris causa need to have achieved distinction in their chosen profession or have rendered unusually significant service through leadership in important causes.

The alumni members referred to hear are those graduates of the university who have been graduated at least five (5) years and were not selected members when they were students.
Faculty and Administration Members: The general qualifications for membership in the Society include:

      (1) exemplary character;

        (2) scholarship and intelligence;

        (3) service and leadership in campus life;

        (4) good citizenship within the academic and larger community; and

        (5) fellowship and consecration to democratic ideals.
Student Members: Each fall and spring semester, OΔK will choose members to join our local circle. Students must have at least Junior standing and be in the top 15% of their class. They must have obtained distinction in at least one of the five categories of collegiate activity that is emphasized by OΔK:

(1) scholarship;

(2) athletics;

(3) campus or community service, social, religious activities, and campus government;

(4) journalism, speech, and the mass media;

(5) creative and performing arts.
